Pre-Ride-Twas' the Night Before the Trip

Colorado, Colorado, Colorado...the name has been resonating in my ears since the evolution of this journey began about a year ago. The planning is done, the bikes are packed and the temperature for our trip is rising. On my way down to my parent's house today, I think I lost a few pounds of sweat while riding! The weather looks like it should hold out for our travels to North Platte tomorrow.

Every time I get to take a motorcycle adventure like this to an unknown, far-away place, I get the same feeling of excitement. It never fails. Since my first trips sitting behind my Dad on his Road King as a youngster, occasionally joined by other members of my family, including my mom, brother and sisters, there hasn't been another type of journey that gives me this jolt of anxiousness. Various questions revolve around in my head. What will the roads bring us? Who will we meet? Where will we stay? Of course, my Dad has the last question already taken care of, but there is always that chance that we might need to check out another option or two!

Our destination to Southwestern Colorado is what interests me most. From the research we've done, the roads look breathtaking, the views spectacular and the National Parks on the schedule look phenomenal. During our 9 day, 3,000 mile journey out west, I plan to update this blog with small tid-bits on our travels, in hope that it encourages more travels of your own!

See you on the road.
